Dr. Ali Shariati redefined the spirit of almost everything in Islam, yet was he not the founder of any special thought-school or political organization. Other Books attempts to republish all his important works in English, titled “Dr.Shariati Series” and this is the first book. We believe the series will serve the purpose of enlightenment for more generations to come, especially in a time of intellectual confusion, rampant US puppetteism, organized suppression and postmodern chaos.
Conflicts in history have invariably been between polytheism, which has stabilized and authorized class divisions and ensuing travails, and monotheism, which has stood against the orthodoxy and supported the down-trodden and poor. This comment breaks down a deeply-rooted misunderstanding among modern intelligentsia and most Muslims.
Ali Shariati was the theoretician of Islamic Revolution in Iran. A social scientist, he has relationship with Che Guvera, Frantz Fanon and Sartre. His sociological visions should be reevaluated in this context.
